Soft Patchwork Mug Rug

Availability: 1 in stock

This soft tone patchwork mug rug is made using improvised piecing, where each section is added one at a time. The shapes shift across the surface, creating a relaxed layout that feels natural rather than structured. The mix of ochre, muted yellow, blue, and black keeps the piece warm and easy to place in different spaces. It works well for everyday use on a kitchen table, desk, or coffee table, helping protect surfaces while adding texture. The compact size makes it easy to move around depending on where you need it. Practical and versatile, it blends into daily routines without effort.

Description

MATERIALS & PROCESS

All my pieces are one of a kind. I work exclusively with second-hand fabrics, which means I never know exactly what materials I’ll find from month to month. This results in unexpected fabrics, colours, compositions, and moods, with each piece developing its own character. Each soft patchwork mug rug is made with a machine pieced patchwork top, a layer of batting, and a backing fabric. The layers are hand quilted together to create a durable, tactile surface suitable for everyday use.

I design my work with longevity in mind. These pieces are made to be used regularly and cared for over time rather than replaced.
If needed, they can be mended or repaired, and each piece comes with a small selection of fabric scraps from its making, along with detailed care instructions, to support future maintenance.
