Commissions
Do you like my work, but can`t find something in the right size or to your specific needs? Do you want to make something special as a gift? Do you want to work together and create a truly one-of-a-kind piece for yourself or your home? I would love to help you bring your vision to life. Taking on a commission entails a fusion of the style of Aleatorio Designs and the ideas of a client. You can include special textiles, inspiration from photographs, or meaningful colors and shapes. The commission process usually starts with you requesting a commission, using the form below. I ask for additional information if that`s necessary. After I take on a commission I start the work of planning, sketching, and composing the color palette. I`ll need your approval before I actually start cutting fabric. The last part is washing and lint rolling before packaging. I have several options for gift wrapping and packaging if you would like that. I send all my packages with tracking.
Pricing:
The price will depend on the size and intricacy of design, in addition to colors, fabrics, and time spent. A big quilt with minimalist design and quilting might cost less than a wall hanging with intricate hand appliqué and plant dyed fabrics. You will get an accurate quote after submitting your request.
Approximate Prices:
Coasters (set of 4): €50+
Placemats/table toppers (set of 2): €70+
Pillow cases: €90+
Wall hanging: €100+
Lap/baby quilt (90 cm x 110 cm): €300+
Throw quilt (140 cm x 170 cm): €700+
Queen/King size (230 x 250 cm): €1 200+
Jackets: €350+
Please fill out the form below for more accurate prices.
Time:
Each item is made by hand and hand quilted, a time consuming process. Some natural dyes can take days to slowly coax out of the dyestuff. It really depends on your request, it can take days, weeks, months. Genuinely hand crafted items take time, but are worth the wait. Please send a request for a more accurate time estimate.
Notes:
- As I only use fabrics I can find second-hand; my color palette is limited to what I have on hand or dye naturally at any given moment. This might be an inconvenience if you are looking for very specific colors and shades.
- All of my work is based on improvised patchwork/quilting techniques or traditional quilt blocks and my own designs. I never follow or recreate commercial patterns or use other people`s designs.
